Day 2 - Music
Another easy Joy for today: listen to a happy song, or a song with happy memories attached to it :)
Easy version:
Think of a song that makes you smile, and listen to it! Put it on repeat if you feel like it!
Less easy:
Sing along! (Who cares if you don’t know all the words!). Take half an hour and create a happy songs playlist. Share your playlist with friends, family, or complete strangers :)
Why?
Music is one of the quickest ways to lift your mood, and listening to a favourite song requires very little effort (ie. it’s possible to do even on a really bad day).
Ideas for sharing:
If you’re on social media, you can share a picture of your favourite album, add the music if available, or share a link to a video. Add a quick description of the activity to encourage your friends and followers to try it too!
If you’re doing a “daily Joy texting” partnership with someone, send each other a link to the video you chose. Maybe share why you chose this song.
You can also share your song in person. Have a dance party in your kitchen!
Feel free to share your experience with me! Either in the comments below, or by emailing me.
My personal choice:
I’ve shown a handful of joyful albums in the image above.. I’ve always loved 70’s and 80’s Billy Joel, and especially since it was one of the picks for our very short wedding playlist, there are now those happy memories associated with the songs. Castle If’s Plant Material live show was one of the weirdest and most beautiful shows I’ve ever seen - she carefully brought about a dozen of her house plants out onto the stage and arranged them before starting the show. The album is great too. Blind Melon - anyone who was around in the 90’s remembers the Bee Girl, and her defiantly cheerful dance through life. This song still makes me smile. And last but not least, Mika. This album is one of our all-time favourites for listening to in the car. The music is as glorious as the album cover art!
