Yin Yoga

Unlike almost any other exercise program out there, the purpose of Yin Yoga is to slow down. Daily life has us stressed and bouncing from one thing to the next (even if we aren’t leaving home!), Yin Yoga acts to balance this. By activating the parasympathetic nervous system, it eases us from the all-too-common state of “fight/flight” to a state of “rest and digest”. My initial resistance (personally speaking) was that it seemed boring. It might seem boring to you too. But it turns out that our brains NEED space free from constant stress and input, and allowing this space makes for a brain that works much smoother when we get back to “go” mode :) So give it a try! Good for all levels of experience, including “I’ve never done yoga before”.
